Chicago O'Hare is currently the world's busiest airport by aircraft movements, serving ~2,442 every day in June 2025. But even with eight runways, three of which can be used at once for takeoffs, it's common for flights to still queue for long periods of time before departure. It's even more comical when you're on a regional jet flight of 30-45 minutes, as you might be on the ground longer than you're in the air. Let's examine this scenario on tonight's flight from Chicago back to Peoria.
