How to Prevent a Heart Attack
While some risk factors like age or family history can't be changed, most heart attacks are preventable through lifestyle choices and early action.
🥗 1. Eat Heart-Healthy Foods
More fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats (like olive oil, nuts, seeds)
Less processed food, sugar, and trans fats
Control cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar through your diet
🏃♂️ 2. Stay Physically Active
30 minutes of exercise a day (walking, cycling, yoga, etc.)
Improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, and strengthens your heart
🚭 3. Avoid Smoking and Limit Alcohol
Smoking severely increases heart disease risk
Limit alcohol to 1–2 drinks per week or avoid completely
💆♂️ 4. Manage Stress
Chronic stress increases blood pressure and heart strain
Try meditation, breathing exercises, nature walks, journaling, or hobbies
🩺 5. Get Regular Health Checkups
Monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and ECG regularly
Early detection = early protection
🕒 6. Maintain Healthy Weight
Obesity strains the heart and increases risk of diabetes and high BP
Aim for a balanced weight based on your BMI and activity level
😴 7. Prioritize Sleep
Get 7–8 hours of quality sleep every night
Poor sleep increases risk of high BP, insulin resistance, and heart disease
