"Pentatonic Depression" Original Chiptune MIDI Song

Some old instrumental bass and drum videogame soundtrack music I wrote with influences from the genres of dream pop, shoegaze, ambient, goth, emo, and indie rock.

This track's title comes from the pentatonic scale that I play in parts of the lead guitar melody.

I made the MIDI file in Finale 26 on Windows 11 then mixed it in Audacity using Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones.

The VST audio banks soundfont is just the default Garritan Personal Orchestra sounds effects running through Aria Player.

I used Windows Movie Maker and Windows Media Player Legacy Edition from the Windows Essentials 2012 software suite to make the music visualizer background video.

I'm just an underground independent artist, not a professional musician or audio engineer, so sorry if things turned out a little weird. I did the best I could using mostly open source and free to download editing programs. Although my Finale authentication key is the student discount version from back when I was enrolled in some undergraduate college music composition classes.

The overall volume level turned out a bit quieter than I like, but I wanted to preserve the original audio's dynamic range, without it clipping or having to compress, normalise, or brickwall the track into loudness war slop.
