✅ How do my Indian parents react to Finnish salty black liquorice? 😱 In this video, my (Megha’s) parents try salmiakki, the famously salty, sweet, and bold Finnish treat that divides opinions for the very first time. From hesitant first nibbles to full-on taste test reactions, we capture every expression, laugh, and honest verdicts that will leave you laughing.

✅ We start by introducing salmiakki and explaining why it is such a big part of Finnish culture. My parents, who have never tasted salty liquorice before, are both curious and suspicious, unsure how something this sweet treat could also be this salty.

✅ Then comes the taste test. We try six very different products: from Tyrkisk Peber with its fiery kick, the classics like Fazer Salmiakki Mix, Panda Choco Lakrits which blends chocolate and liquorice, Fazer Salmiakki Super and Fazer salmiakki chocolate bar, and last but defintiely not the least, the bold Koskenkorva Salmiakki liqueur. Their expressions range from loving it, to wide-eyed shock, to bursts of laughter, with plenty of playful commentary along the way.

✅ We also chat about how flavour preferences differ between cultures, why salmiakki is beloved in Finland, and how taste memories from childhood shape what we enjoy as adults. My parents share comparisons to Indian sweets, spices, and bold flavours they grew up with, and whether salmiakki makes the cut for their taste buds.
