Healthcare and Humanity: One Rural Family Doctor’s Simple, Hopeful Prescription. Working at the interface of birth, life, and death in a broken and traumatized US Healthcare system; this descriptive talk seeks to illuminate and integrate the essence of the healer’s art through the concept of sonder and several touching stories reclaiming humanity in medicine. Zach grew up in Edgar, a rural town in central Wisconsin. He currently practices rural full-scope family medicine in Wild Rose and is an executive physician leader in his healthcare organization. Zach is a firm believer that physicians hold an obligation not only to their patients, but to their community; and that self-knowledge is a keystone for discovering compassion and awareness.
