Colorscaping by WAC Smart Transformer Installation | LED Landscape Lighting | Outdoor Lighting

In this step-by-step instructional video, learn how to install and configure the Colorscaping Smart Transformer https://bit.ly/4aQ2SYu for smart and legacy landscape lighting. Before you begin, ensure the transformer can accommodate the total fixture load and that your wiring plan accounts for the voltage drop.

Read all of the instructions before beginning the installation. Step One: Before mounting the Colorscaping Smart Transformer, provide a minimum of 12 inches of airspace around the transformer. 

Step Two: Securely mount the power supply using the provided mounting template. 

Step Three: Hang the transformer case securely over the screws. 

Step Four:   Plug in the power cord to a GFCI-protected outlet. 

Step Five:  Use approved wiring methods to connect the power supply and lighting fixtures. Do not remove the PLC filter module from the power cord. 

Step Six:  When connecting low-voltage landscape cables, run them through the smart transformer's knockouts and connect them to the terminal blocks as labeled.

Step Seven:  Use Zone 1 for Smart Colorscaping fixtures and Zone 2 for legacy fixtures.

Step Eight:  After installing the Smart Transformer, power the Colorscaping System by turning on the main breaker switch inside the transformer.

Step Nine: Wait for the system light to stop blinking and turn solid blue.  Your Colorscaping transformer is now ready to continue the set-up process. 

Step Ten: Next, your Colorscaping transformer will locate fixtures using our Discovery process.

Step Eleven: When adding or removing fixtures from a transformer, press and release the 'Zone 1' button.

Step Twelve: Depress the "Presets" button for 6 seconds until you hear a beep and the 'Zone 1' indicator blinks.

Step Thirteen: When Discovery is complete, the 'Zone 1' indicator emits three long flashes and will turn off. Please note that fixtures attached to the transformer may flash numerous times during the Discovery process.

Step Fourteen: Test the installation using the local control panel. To confirm the proper installation of Colorscaping fixtures on Zone 1, press and release the Zone 1 button on the control panel. 

Step Fifteen: Observe that the Zone 1 indicator light illuminates green, then press and release the presets button.  You will see that the output indicator light is red. 

Step Sixteen: At this point, observe the fixtures. Properly connected fixtures will illuminate to the same color as the output indicator on the transformer.

Step Seventeen: Repeatedly press the preset button on the control panels to cycle the output through the 16 preset colors stored on the transformer.  All fixtures properly connected will show the same color as the output indicator light.

To Test Legacy fixtures, use the following steps.

Step One: Test Legacy fixtures connected to Zone 2 of the transformer using the following steps:

Step Two: Press and release the Zone 2 button on the control panel. Observe that the Zone 2 indicator light illuminates red.

Step Three: Press and release the up-arrow button on the right side of the control panel to observe that all of the level indicators in the center are illuminated.  At this point, all fixtures connected to the Zone 2 outputs should be illuminated to their full brightness.
