Internal Brace is a latest modality of treating sports injuries resulting in ligament tears. Internal bracing is done using a FiberTape which is made up of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. This is very strong and it supplements the ligament and graft used during surgery.
We use seat belt while driving car, it prevents us from major injuries if any accident happens. The Internal Brace also acts like a seatbelt and prevents graft and repaired ligament from injury.
The role of Internal Brace is evolving in the ACL surgery. it is useful with ACL reconstruction particularly when patient is young and needs early rehabilitation. It helps the athlete to get back into sports faster and stronger after the surgery.
