A former LaFayette police sergeant is appealing his murder conviction and life sentence.
Sam Parker was found guilty in the killing of his third wife, 911 operator Theresa Parker, in 2009.
But now attorney David Dunn argues the trial court made three errors so serious that Parker's charges should be dismissed.
First, Dunn claims Walker County deputies illegally searched Parker's home without a warrant.
Then, he says that since there was no physical evidence of Theresa's death, the prosecutor built her case around a character assassination of Sam Parker, and the judge improperly accepted that evidence.
Finally, Dunn claims the judge put unfair pressure on the jury to reach a decision, after deliberating for three days.
The Georgia Supreme Court has about six months - to rule on the case.
