Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick issued a blistering assessment of St. Louis Public Schools on Tuesday, giving the district the lowest possible performance rating — “poor” — and warning that current financial practices could render the district unable to finish the school year by 2031.
The findings, detailed in a 100-plus page report, center on the district’s failure to control spending, follow procurement laws, and justify executive-level compensation under the leadership of former Superintendent Keisha Scarlett.
