Borderlands 3 on Linux via Steam store / Proton 5.0-4 DXVK 1.5.5

BL3 is out on Steam on March 13th and I play a few hours already on it. However, the games doesn't work out of the box since there is some extra codec within Proton to get the video in this game work. Maybe Steam will fix it later but for now is the workaround.

This fix is based from The Linux Experimental video here but I adapted it for Proton:    • How to play BORDERLANDS 3 ON LINUX  

To get the multiplayer working, we must recreate the wineprefix. Just delete the content of the "pfx" folder here:

/your_home_folder/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/397540/pfx/

(Note: Deleting this will delete your save file. Make sure to backup it first from this folder
~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/397540/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Borderlands 3/)

Recreate the wineprefix below:

WINEPREFIX="/your_home_folder/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/397540/pfx/" WINEARCH=win64 wine wineboot

(Note: if you got this error while creating the new prefix "SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated" make sure the packages "winbind" is installed on your distro.)

Download or clone the Media Fondation from github below:

Install the Media Fondation:

https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-installcab

Go to the "mf-install-master" folder and execute the script by using the commande below:

WINEPREFIX="/your_home_folder/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/397540/pfx/" ./mf-install.sh

Do the same for "mf-installcab-master" folder:

WINEPREFIX="/your_home_folder/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/397540/pfx/" ./install-mf-64.sh

We also need an extra dll to get it work. Download COLORCNV.DLL from this link:

Then copy the file into this folder below:

/your_home_folder/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/397540/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32/COLORCNV.dll
