‘The Vikings Invade’ weekend reenactment is well under way at Peterborough’s Flag Fen.
I took a visit their today to see what it was all about and to do my 2nd ever visit. It’s changed a lot since way back then and today had the added additions of some Vikings. It will also be on tomorrow if you’re looking for something to do.
You can walk round the reenactment tents and chat to the local Vikings about their work, their lifestyle and their family life here. Many were preparing soups for dinner tonight with lots of locally found produce like leeks, mushrooms, carrots, apples and grinding their own flour to make bread. You’ll get up close to the making of games, clothes and armour like mace coverings where every little link is joined to another.
Entry until 4pm. Check their rosta for what’s on when. Cost £8 per adult, £5 children, under 5years free, and the best value is to buy a family ticket for £20 (2 adults & 3 children)
