This unforgettable day trip blends spirituality, history, and the simple joy of a perfect cup of coffee — all in the heart of beautiful Bali.
🌿 Gunung Kawi –
Hidden in a lush river valley just a short drive from Tirta Empul, Gunung Kawi is one of the oldest and most mysterious temple complexes in Bali. Dating back to the 11th century, this temple is famous for its massive shrines carved into the cliffs on both sides of the Pakerisan River. These shrines are believed to be memorials to ancient Balinese royalty. To reach the site, you’ll descend a scenic stone path surrounded by rice terraces, tropical jungle, and the peaceful sound of running water. It’s a place of ancient power and quiet reflection. Gunung Kawi is a true hidden gem that blends history, spirituality, and nature.
🙏 Pura Tirta Empul –
Located in the village of Tampaksiring, Pura Tirta Empul is one of Bali’s most important Hindu temples, dating back to 962 A.D. It’s best known for its sacred spring water, which Balinese Hindus believe has healing and purifying powers. Believed to cleanse the body, mind, and soul of negative energies and past sins. Visitors and worshippers come from all over to take part in a melukat (spiritual cleansing ritual) in the series of crystal-clear pools fed by the holy spring. Upon entering, visitors are provided with a Sarong, a traditional Balinese cloth that is mandatory to wear to respect the temple’s sanctity.
The temple complex features traditional Balinese architecture, lush gardens, and a serene, spiritual atmosphere that’s unforgettable. Pura Tirta Empul is truly a must-visit destination in Bali.
☕ Pemulan Bali Coffee Plantation –
After exploring temples, we visit the Pemulan Agro Tourism Coffee Plantation, a peaceful and eco-friendly farm nestled in the hills of central Bali. Here, you’ll learn about traditional methods of growing and roasting coffee and get a chance to taste fresh organic coffee and sample unique blends a variety of locally produced coffees and teas—including the world-famous Luwak coffee, made from beans digested by civet cats! The plantation is a relaxing stop that offers insight into Bali’s agricultural heritage, along with beautiful views and a chance to unwind.
