Working with molten metal is one of the most hazardous industrial activities. Standard modern safety protocols usually require full-face shields, aluminized (heat-reflective) suits, and specialized leggings to prevent metal from Trapping in boots.
A large, glowing-hot crucible is being tilted to pour liquid metal into a mold. The vibrant orange/red glow indicates temperatures likely exceeding 1,000°C.
The operator is using a long-handled tool to guide or stabilize the pour. He is wearing protective gear, including a heavy leather apron, though working in such close proximity to steam and molten spray requires extreme caution.
The thick white smoke/steam is common when molten metal hits a mold, often caused by the moisture or binding agents in the sand mold reacting to the intense heat.
