In the field of linguistics, there is a concept known as "eligible difference". This is used to describe a difference that can be seen or heard by an observer. For example, if two people are speaking to each other in different languages, they may notice that their speech sounds different. However, this is not a significant enough difference for them to be considered two separate languages.
The same principle applies to written language: if two people write in different scripts, like Chinese and Japanese, it may be difficult for someone who does not know either script well enough to read it fluently. If the reader is only able to understand one of the scripts well enough to decode it into a form they can understand (like Romanization), then they will be able to see differences between the two writings; however, this does not mean they are separate languages.
When you're writing a paper, it's important to make sure that your arguments are clear and well-supported. If you have any questions, watch the video!
