Bruce is back from running another successful Los Banos Scale Slope and Aerotow event and is now ready for getting back to his other big project; building the 1941 German Stiegker model. This is an almost 11 foot wingspan model (3.3m) with a D-Tube (balsa capped leading edge with open bay wood ribs) wing. It was design during the war for free flight with no radios and probably minimal or no balsa, but it’s latest design now has a short kit of CNC (computer numerical control) nearly perfect fitting cut parts from popular, birch, and balsa wood. Other interesting features are:
°Gull wing design
°Capable of aerotow, high-start, winch or slope launch
°Will be covered in Polyspan
°Designed by Paul Hucke in 1941 in Germany
°Redesigned by Paul Hucke in 1986 and 1996
°Plans can only be obtained from Herr Hucke’s estate and are in German
°Control comes from just a rudder and elevator, a spoiler is optional
°Göttinger 285/Clark Y airfoil
Please join us hear about this fascinating build project.
