▶︎ ABOUT THIS TRIP
Between February and March 2025, we sailed 300 nautical miles from Caleta Tortel to Puerto Chacabuco, exploring this relatively unknown part of Patagonia. We discovered breathtaking landscapes like Bahia Kelly, with white sand beaches bordered by deep green forests, reminiscent of northeastern Australia but framed by snow-capped mountains. Wildlife was everywhere: albatross gliding overhead, sea lions swimming nearby, and schools of fish hunting at dawn and dusk. We visited Puerto Slight, the site of Faro Raper lighthouse, where the keepers greeted us warmly. After rounding Península Tres Montes, we found shelter at Estero Cono, a popular spot for fishermen. There, we met the crew of the Rey del Pacifico and spend the afternoon sharing stories about their work, Patagonia, and the sea. Lauric went surfing in cold water, while Nao dove to gather shellfish for lunch. We cleaned the hull, long overdue for antifouling, now covered in algae and shells, then enjoyed a warm soak in a nearby hot spring. After a week in Estero Cono, we headed north to Caleta Pico Paico, a place full of hiking opportunities. But with our Chilean visa about to expire, we reluctantly continued our way north. The episode ends with some doggy sailboat manoeuvres as we sail our way into northern Patagonia.
This film features music and ambient sounds, with no dialogue or narration. Subtitles are available in English, French, and Spanish to provide context, explain the visuals, and share practical information. Special thanks to Fernando Moraga for the Spanish translation.
