This clip is of the Friedman BE 100 Deluxe with the SAT switch engaged.
I play some modern hard rock riffs in drop D - first part was on the HBE mode.
This mode engages additional diode clipping which brings more saturation and compression, making the amp sound more aggressive.
It has a smoother top end than with just the tube distortion, so more treble and presence can be added if needed.
SAT also lowers the overall volume, therefore the amp is turned up quite high on both the System Volume and the channel Masters.
The C45 switch in the back is engaged, which adds additional high frequencies and cuts some of the boxy mids. The FAT switch is disabled.
It is worth noting that the SAT switch doesn’t work the same as putting a boost in front of the amp. It doesn’t cut as much bass and doesn’t add any additional mids or highs, as your regular TS-9 or SD-1 would.
My guitar is a Les Paul Classic from 2005 with 498t in the bridge.
For all my recordings I use a St.Rock React IR as loadbox and IR loader. For this clip I used a Mesa 4x12 with standard Mesa V30s.
