Common chaffinch is a common nesting bird in forests and parks across most of Norway, north to Troms, and few in inner fjord and lowland areas in Finnmark. The species has increased its distribution in the northern parts of the country in the last hundred years.
The species is one of the most common bird species in Norway, and is estimated at, two to four million pairs, during the breeding season.
