Ricky King, born Hans Lingenfelder (Rastatt, March 12, 1946), is a German guitarist.
Hans Lingenfelder began his solo career in 1976, initially under the stage name Cliff King, which he later changed to Ricky King for legal reasons. His first title was the instrumental track "Verde," originally the opening theme of the Italian TV documentary "Quaranta giorni di libertà" about the partisan republic of Ossola. The authors were Guido and Maurizio De Angelis, who had become known as Oliver Onions and through their music for the Bud Spencer & Terence Hill films. The song reached number 3 in Germany, number 4 in Austria, and number one in Switzerland. It reached number 5 in Belgium and number 10 in the Netherlands. Ricky King's instrumental guitar hits leaned towards the style of the 1950s and 1960s. His influences include Hank B. Marvin (The Shadows), The Ventures, and The Spotnicks. Like Marvin, King usually used a Fender Stratocaster on stage. Besides some new compositions, King's albums mainly contained newly arranged guitar classics. King's success is closely linked to producers Gerd Küthe and Roland Heck, with whom he created more than 30 albums. In total, King sold more than 6 million records.
