Today was a full day repairing our woodchip drying area. We sundry our woodchips so they can be piled, stored and used as needed. Having a local hardwood chip supply is pretty sweet but is still a lot of work. Next step is to process our chips into sawdust with a hammermill, which is a great substrate for our specialty mushrooms.
Hardwood species we grow on are as follows: Birch, Maple, Poplar, Willow, and a few invasive species like Tree of Heaven or Siberian Elm and probably a few more that I'm forgetting.
