This is my instrumental cover version of Michel Polnareff's song 'Tam-Tam (l'homme préhisto)', a fan favourite that appeared on the B-side of the 7" of his hit single 'Je t'aime', as well as being the opening track on his 1981 studio album 'Bulles' (© Disc'AZ/Enuf Records, France). The song was written by Michel Polnareff, with help from Jean-Paul Dréau for some of the lyrics. My version was sequenced recorded and mixed in PreSonus' Studio One 7 Professional DAW, using a Faderport 16.
Please note that I have shortened the song from 5:49 to 4:15 by cutting out about 52 bars' worth of repeated sections which - to my ears, at least - did not add very much to the song.
The instruments used are as follows:
Les Paul electric guitar into an Avid Eleven Rack effects unit,
Korg Kronos (drums, percussion, Rhodes Mk II electric piano, Yamaha CP70 electric stage grand piano, brass),
Sequential Prophet-5 (synth bass and various synths),
Arturia OP-Xa (synth strings in the 2nd bridge),
Arturia Solina V (string machine),
Roland Jupiter-X (synths, flutes and pizzicato strings),
gear4music 'Chicago' bass guitar, converted to fretless,
Backing vocals by me (pitch correction used, courtesy of Melodyne).
Several effect plugins from Arturia's FX Collection and a few Studio One stock plugins were used during the mixing stage of the song.
