▬▬▬▬ Video Transcript ▬▬▬▬
Hey everyone, it’s Matt! Today, I’m going to show you how to create transitions between clips in Final Cut Pro.
If you’re familiar with the software, you’ll know your way around pretty quickly. Right now, I’m working on a YouTube video for this channel, and I want to demonstrate how transitions can enhance your edits.
First off, you’ll notice a gray area with two triangles facing each other on my timeline. That’s a transition, specifically a fade to color transition.
To access the transitions, look at the right-hand corner where I have the effects browser open. You want to click on the icon that looks like those two triangles to enter the transitions menu.
Once you’re in the transitions menu, you’ll see a list of various transitions available. Some of them are a bit quirky, and you can preview them by clicking on them.
There are fun options like the clone spin and some retro 1970s effects, but many of them may not fit modern styles. Depending on your project, you might find some interesting choices, like a blur effect with Gaussian.
For my recommendations, the cross dissolve is a solid choice for most edits. It’s modern and versatile.
If you want lighter transitions or specific movements, you can filter them in the menu. I often use the fade to color, especially at the end of my videos to smoothly transition into the outro.
It’s a great way to wrap things up. Now, let’s get practical.
If you have a gap between two clips, that’s where you’ll add your transition. Simply select the transition you want, then drag and drop it into the gap.
It’s really that easy! I’ll play it back so you can see how the fade to color works in action.
Remember, you need to have two separate clips for the transition to work. If you only have one clip, you can use the blade tool to create separate clips.
That said, you might not always need to do that. This video was a quick overview of how to add transitions in Final Cut Pro.
I hope you found it helpful! If so, please like the video and subscribe for more content like this.
