Today we shone the Spotlight on Luna the 2 year old Australian Kelpie. She’s the Michael Jordan of the farm. She can pluck a frisbee from 6 foot above a pack of 30 dogs. She’s actually too fast for the quad bike (which maxes out at 54km/hr) to even clock her speed. She dives off the dock and will cover half the length of the pool. She continues to impress us every day, this is Luna!
The following words are from Luna’s Mum:
In June 2018 we went to see our potential new puppy and took one look at Luna (at 11 weeks) and fell in love with her little eyebrows, chatty nature and that she was the runt of the litter!
She loves to give kisses, sleep with her entire body under blankets so you can't see her (and we freak out she can't breathe!). Luna also will wake up in the middle of night howling and barking as she chases possums and blue tongues!
Luna started off so happy. She loved other dogs, played with all types. She loved breakfast outings, park runs, walks to shops etc.
In August 2018, Luna experienced a fright from another dog when on the lead out walking in the city one day. She started barking aggressively in defence and from that day, this happened every time we went for a walk on lead. We also started to see her act out off the lead. It got so bad, we didn't want to walk her... she was so out of control and would get worked up from barking aggressively and lunging at other dogs. It became very stressful.
Fast forward to December 2018...
We heard about the farm from our dog walker at the time, so I rang up and spoke with Luke. He told me to pop her on the van on Wednesday and he would take a look. We had at this point worked with three or four other dog trainers who were all helpful but were still not making any head way.
I remember the call from day 1 at the farm so well. There was finally hope!
Luke told me we had an exceptionally high energy kelpie on our hands... As the spectrum went... she was at the highest end. (lol). He said she had been barking at the other dogs and generally a bit stubborn/not listening but felt he could help us as he had seen it before.
Fast forward to present day.
It was not an overnight thing however Luna is 100% trustworthy at the dog park now and even stops and plays with other dogs over the frisbee and ball some days. No more scuffles any more. Luna is back eating crumbs under our breakfast outings and overall is a much happier pup which makes us so thankful to Luke and Sam. It was life changing. We love the farm more than Luna and feel lucky to have access to such an amazing tapestry.
