The Big Doubloon Reset | Sea of Thieves Developer Update: January 21st 2026

We're gearing up to reset the Doubloon economy, preparing to add more requirements before new pirates can access Faction Battles via the Hourglass, and working on improving player encounter rates. All this and more in Production Director Drew's first Developer Update of 2026!

The end-slate should read "A new Season for Sea of Thieves continues January 22nd". Sorry if that caused any confusion!
