On Friday, January 24, 2025, from 12 noon–1:00 ET, the Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law, alongside the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s (PDA) Agricultural Business Development Center (ABDC), presented this webinar in the Understanding Agricultural Law educational series:
“Understanding the Basics of Pennsylvania’s Carbon Sequestration Law”
On July 17, 2024, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed into law SB 831, now Act 87 of 2024, known as the “Carbon Capture and Sequestration Act,” allowing for the underground storage of carbon dioxide in the state.
This webinar provides an overview of the law’s major provisions, including the ownership and conveyance of pore space and permitting and operating procedures, and discuss related legal issues, including potential liabilities associated with storing carbon dioxide.
