Learn how to play the theme from Canon in D by Pachelbel on the violin, with this easy tutorial for beginners. This is an easier version than the original, so more suitable for beginners.
This is one of the most popular classical pieces ever. Everyone recognizes and loves Pachelbel's Canon on D, whether they are regular listeners of classical music or not. It gets played at weddings, is found in many films and sampled by pop musicians. I am sure you will enjoy playing it too.
I recommend learning the original too and playing it with 2 other violins and bass as a canon, when you are nearer an intermediate level.
In this tutorial just follow my fingers in the first half of the tutorial. There is scrolling sheet music at the bottom of the video with finger numbers and notes names if that is useful for you, but no problem if you can't read music, just copy and play.
In the second half of the video you can follow the bowing play along with me.
0:00 Intro
0:08 Slow close up of Fingers
3:08 Fingers and Bowing, Play along!
Too fast or too slow? Did you know you can adjust the speed by clicking on the settings icon at the bottom right of the video and simply adjust the play back speed.
