About Micah:
Micah isn’t just a singer-songwriter. It’s who he truly is at his core. The Houston-based, Texas country musician, stands as a true luminary in the vibrant tapestry of the Lone Star State's musical landscape. With a soulful voice that echoes the rich traditions of country music, Micah transcends conventional boundaries, weaving tales of love, loss, and the essence of living vulnerably into every note. Born in Baytown, Texas, and raised in the heart of blue-collar, industrial America, Micah is a tried-and-true South Western Texan. His childhood home was in an isolated area, allowing him to grow up in his own little world where his creativity and imagination flourished. Coming up playing sports like football during his high school years instilled discipline, integrity and hard work into his bones. Those formative years helped shape his grounded yet adventurous spirit, which he channels into his music.
Micah’s musical journey started early, surrounded by a family where music was more than a pastime—it was a way of life. Growing up with a songwriter in the house was extremely influential. Micah learned very early on how to write songs and the art of musical expression by listening and helping his stepfather create songs. Young Micah grew up with melodies in his veins. But it wasn’t until he saw Camp Rock at age 11 that the spark truly ignited, leading him to pick up the guitar and start writing his first songs. By 19 he was lighting up the Houston, Texas bar scene.
Micah has played countless shows over the past few years. Always bringing the passion. Whether it’s with the full band, song swapping with other Texas singer-songwriters or lighting up the stage solo with just an acoustic guitar, his love for live performance is unwavering. It is very apparent that he’s more comfortable on a stage than anywhere else. Today, his music is deeply rooted in traditional Country and Hip-Hop, drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists from Keith Whitley to Young Dolph. This blend of influences creates a sound that’s rich, soulful, and unmistakably his own.
A passionate believer in Christ and a fitness buff, Micah’s belief in God carries him through the dark times. He knows without a doubt, that God is watching over him and guiding him on his musical journey. His love for both God and fitness mirror his approach to music—dedication, heart, and a drive to connect with others. His songwriting is inspired by life’s emotional highs and lows, whether it’s a sad song born from a deeply personal moment or a playful melody crafted for sheer fun. His creative process is as dynamic as his sound, with songs sometimes sparked by a lyrical free style, a chord progression recorded on his phone, a melody that strikes out of nowhere, or a fleeting moment of inspiration.
Whether he's crooning a ballad that tugs at the heartstrings or igniting the stage with a lively, foot-stomping anthem, Micah Cheatham embodies the spirit of Texas country in its purest form.
