You'll see historic film of the 1959 International Petroleum Exposition parade celebrating the oil industry. Tulsa Ok was the regular host of the IPE events, which always included a huge parade. This glorious archival film was taken at 3rd and Boston Ave in downtown Tulsa. National Bank of Tulsa building in the background.
Among the floats in the parade were Skelly Oil, University of Tulsa, National Bank of Tulsa, Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, Edison High School band, Washington High School Band, Brown Dunkin & Vandever's department store.
Also in the parade was the Berliet T100 itruck that was designed and built in the 1950s. It was the largest truck in the world at the time, with a length of 50 feet, a width of 16 feet, and a height of 14 feet. The truck's Cummins diesel V12 engine produced 700 horsepower. The truck was specifically built for oil field work.
