SOLO HIKING THE HEAPHY TRACK NEW ZEALAND in 4K | Most underrated of the New Zealand great walks

The Heaphy Track is one of the nine New Zealand Great Walks. Good for hiking and mountain biking, the Heaphy Track offers an affordable Great Walk.

In part 1 of a 4 part Heaphy Track series, we walk from Kohaihai to the Heaphy Hut. It is a beautiful 15km walk along the coast and through lush forests. Nicau palm trees rising straight off the beach.

The Heaphy Track is a great hiking track to spot native Kiwi birds, Takahe birds, Weka, giant snails and much more! Day 1 on the Heaphy Track did not disappoint with incredible views and an amazing place to stay!

As one of the New Zealand Great Walks, the Heaphy Track requires you to book your accommodation in advance. You can choose to stay in the huts or camp. Be mindful that if you pay for camping, you are not allowed to use the hut facilities.

Underrated by many as the least popular of the New Zealand Great Walks, the Heaphy Track is one of the most amazing long-distance hiking trails in New Zealand.
