☕️Green tea is a popular skin care ingredient. It has multiple benefits and is well tolerated.
☕️Green tea contains polyphenols known as catechins which are a powerful antioxidant and prevents free radical formation.
☕️Green tea is made by processing fresh leaves using heat or hot steam immediately after collection. This minimises any oxidation process.
Green tea can be taken orally or applied in a serum formulation on the skin .
☕️Green tea extract or EGCG when applied on the skin has antioxidant, UV protective, anti-aging, anti inflammatory and immunomodulative effects. It also potentiate wound healing and skin repair . It also improves skin hydration and protects against skin wrinkling.
☕️High doses of green tea did show side effects. Not recommended to drink more than 5 cups of green tea. More than 8 cups can cause side effects like headache, insomnia and palpitation due to increased caffeine content.
