Last Ninja III, developed and released for the Commodore 64 by System 3 in 1991.

“Dragged through the vortex of time and space, the Ninja is brought to Tibet … To the place of Mysteries. The Shogun Kunltokl, the all powerful master of the palace has brought you, the last of the Ninjas, to the very heart of his corruption and evil. Nothing has resisted the Shogun’s onslaught against the World. Only you stand between the old World of order and the new Realm of Chaos.”

The Final Last Ninja game and the developers went all out to not only make the game the best in the series but also one of the best games the C64 platform will see pushing the system to its limits as well as being one of the most well presented games on the platform. Great gfx with a nice soundtrack quite different to the previous games. It comes out very much like a console game you might see on the Nes or Master System at the time.

As well as a graphics overhaul the gameplay has had some changes with the introduction of the honour and the Bushido power system. Combat is fast and the enemy will drain the life right out of you given the chance. Again I can't get any block function to work and its a case of who can button mash the fastest! The nunchucks I feel is the best weapon (after the limited shurikens) but with the new honour system, the idea is you fight with the same weapon as the enemy to gain honour and bushido power. Bushido power being represented by the green dragon and ideally you need this near full to survive the final boss battle at the end of the game. With this in mind, you don't need to fight every enemy, just enough to fill up the bar and get through each level It is a good idea to find the energy power before facing the end of level guard who only seems beatable when using the nunchucks.

The controls don't feel quite right in this game and can be quite off putting when you are trying to line up with the enemy who can hit you but your not in the right place to hit them back. The isn't entirely bug free and i did get the odd glitch while playing where you can jump out of the screen and come out the other side and then get stuck there. On the final boss there was also a glitch when i get beamed somewhere else on the screen when defeating the boss. The position varies depending where you were when winning.
