How can artificial intelligence and robotics improve food quality and reduce waste? 🍎🍊
At the ITCL Technological Centre of Castilla y León, experts in AI and intelligent robotics have developed an automated fruit and vegetable sorting system in collaboration with OMRON Industrial Automation.
This AI-powered handling cell uses machine vision, deep learning, and robotic automation to identify, sort, and handle perishable products at high speed, without causing damage.
With OMRON’s Sysmac platform, the entire process is managed within a single programming environment:
✅ Detect subtle differences in colour, shape, and ripeness
✅ Locate and classify each product on the conveyor belt
✅ Control robotic motion, conveyor drives, and safety devices seamlessly
✅ Accelerate development and integration using the OMRON Robotics Packaging Library (ORPL)
