This game featured the return of Eddie Mio, Eddie Johnstone, and Ron Duguay as Red Wings, after a huge trade with Detroit the previous summer.
Duguay was the big one, as he had been a Ranger for six seasons, and was one of their top playoff goal scorers those years.
Mio must have been nervous, as he had a bad game in goal, and the Rangers coasted to an easy win. Original MSG broadcast, complete 1st and 2nd periods, just a small part of the third. Rookie (and future HOFer) Steve Yzerman scored a late goal for Detroit.
