Canada's 1st tornado of 2025 caught on camera in Alberta

Stunning footage out of southeast Alberta shows the first confirmed tornado of 2025 in Canada.

Darby Lester was working in a field near Rolling Hills, just southeast of Brooks, when she looked up and saw a tornado forming — in April!

Quick to react, she pulled out her phone and captured dramatic video of the landspout tornado as it twisted near nearby buildings and cattle.

"It's wasn't very wide. There was dust all around the bottom of it. So that's what caught my eye to begin with."

Fortunately, this weaker type of tornado, formed by converging winds from the ground up, caused no reported damage.

Still, the experience left locals talking — especially at the local school.

As Norma Reid reports, with spring just beginning, residents are hoping the rest of the season stays calm.
