WHAT HAPPEN KIRYU COCO FROM HOLOLIVE?

Kiryu Coco was banned for revealing “confidential information” to viewers and for “making statements insensitive to certain nationalities”.

In a recent livestream discussing their YouTube analytics, the pair announced the countries where they had received the most followers from. At which point in the stream, they highlighted that 7% of their viewers were based in Taiwan and displayed the nation’s flag.

According to Cover, both content creators were suspended because they had “divulged confidential YouTube channel analytics information on their respective live streams and used said data for their own purposes.”

However, Cover revealed that the pair were also banned because they made statements that were “insensitive to residents of certain regions” i.e. they mentioned Taiwan and displayed their flag, which China does not view as an independent nation.

Cover made a follow-up statement on the popular Chinese video streaming app ‘Bilibili’, where Hololive has a major following, stating that they “respect China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity … and firmly supports the one-China principle.”

Coco has issued her own statement regarding the ban on Twitter, which translates to: “There was a lack of consideration in the distribution. I’m sorry. We will take this situation properly and strive to raise awareness as a distributor.”
