The Sandy Lane Gold Cup Horse Racing 2023 BARBADOS

The Sandy Lane Gold Cup is one of the most prestigious events in the Eastern Caribbean horse racing calendar and, indeed, the biggest sporting event on the island. Attracting visitors from all over the world, for many years both local and regional jockeys have competed here, including some top international jockeys and trainers, with thoroughbred horses from the UK and North America - some owned by the world’s leading investors in thoroughbred racing - featured. The big race is run over a turf course at 1,800 meters (8.95 furlongs) and is open to horses aged three and over. Garrison Savannah is a fitting setting for such as an event, having been the home of horse racing in Barbados since 1845, and is conveniently located close to the island's capital, Bridgetown.
