More brake problems on our motorhome in North France!

In this episode we were on our way north back towards the UK when further brake issues presented! We lost almost all braking power and brake fluid was low. We topped it up with some fresh fluid, but it quickly became apparent it wasn’t just a simple fix and we had to stop fortunately at a Intermarche carpark. After a quick call to our recovery service, they sent us a flatbed recovery vehicle to take us to the local recovery & repair garage. They were amazed, as were we to find out we were completely missing one of the brake pads on the rear, bearing in mind we had only just had the front brakes repaired a few weeks ago at a garage. This had resulted in damage to both the disc and calliper and had caused the fluid to leak away! It was lucky the problem had presented itself slowly and we had been able to stop safely, rather than a catastrophic failure.
The garage were amazing, despite their limited English and our limited French, we managed to communicate with the help of a bit of Google translate to understand it would be 2-3 days to get the parts and carry out the repair. We camped by the roadside the first night as time was getting on. The following day we booked into a guest house/ B&B for 2 nights at Maison Theresa in Bourth. We had a lovely couple of days relaxing whilst the van was repaired.
The van was ready as promised and we got back on the road, albeit €1000 euros lighter, but at least safe and with perfect working brakes now.
We continued our journey north to Blangy-le-chateau with its remnants of a castle that once stood there.
