HOMILY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

1. Today we honor our dearest mothers. St. Augustine used to call his mother. Sta. Monica, a wonderful woman. Truly our mothers are wonderful women because MOTHERHOOD is a tough 24/7 mission and a vocation, no salary, no day off, most often not appreciated, and yet resignation is impossible. We salute the strongest and greatest woman in the world – our mothers. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.
2. The first word that a child mumbles is the word MAMA or PAPA, (MOMMY, DADDY, NANAY. TATAY) The word MAMA comes from MAMARY GLAND. For a child MAMA is milk. (PAPA is food). MAMA is life. It is the milk of mama that sustains the life of a child. Thank you mama for sustaining my life with your milk.
3. The word MOTHER is an acronym of many words that describes best our mothers.
M – is for the many beautiful MEMORIES she gave us and created in us. An Italian saying goes, La vita e bella con la mama. (Life is beautiful with a mother.) This saying was taken from a reformatory house for juvenile delinquents in Italy. When the whole reformatory house was repainted, the inmates requested the painter to retain this saying on the wall. One thing that consoles them in the dark prison is the thought of a loving and caring mother. Maganda ang buhay kung kasama si nanay.
O – means ONLY a Mother’s love can give. You can have many girl friends and women friends but you have ONLY ONE MOTHER. And now that she is growing OLD. Let us give them a happy old age. They prepared us for life. Let us prepare them for ETERNAL LIFE. I believe all good mothers deserve to go to heaven as their reward for their countless sacrifices. They guided our hands when we were young. They carried us in their arms. Now that they OLD let us guide their hands and carry them in our arms.
T – is for the TEARS she shed for me. Maybe we are not aware of it but sometimes mama suffer in silence when we hurt their feelings and answer them back without respect.
T – is for the precious TIME she accompanied us. 24/7 mama is beside me, especially when I am sick, afraid and weak.
T – is for THANK YOU that most often we do not say to them.
H – is her for HEART of purest gold. Our best home where we can sleep soundly is the bosom of mommy. There we can experience heavenly peace listening to her heartbeat. The heartbeat of a mother’s heart is the best music we have heard since we were in the womb of our mothers. A certain hospital had a problem with newborn babies in their nursery room. Children are restless and always crying. A pediatrician thought of taping the mother’s heartbeat. When the children heard that heartbeat they all slept in peace. For them the mother’s heart is a lullaby of love and presence. If we open our mother’s heart we will be surprised our names are written there. Tayo ang laman ng puso ng ating mga ina. Pero madalas nakakalimutan natin sila.
E – is for her EYES whose LOVING GAZE keeps watching us every minute of the day. Even when we are far away and even though they are asleep, tayo ang laman ng isip nila.
R – means RIGHT and RIGHT she id always be in GUIDING us to the RIGHT PATH. When we were starting to walk they always pull our hands on the right track.
4. We cannot see God. We cannot touch God. But GOD’S LOVE IS INCARNATED BY OUR MOTHER. A story goes among the Hebrews about the origin of our MOTHERS. God created mothers so He can make His LOVE and PRESENCE felt by each and every one of us while He is busy with the affairs of the world and creation. I BELIEVE GOD LOVES ME BECAUSE I HAD A LOVING MOTHER. Hindi ako natakot nuong bata ako dahil naniniwala ako hindi ako pababayaan ng inang ko at hindi ako magugutom dahil ipagluluto niya kami.
5. As we celebrate MOTHERS DAY we say YES TO MARRIAGE, YES TO FAMILY, YES TO FIDELITY. YES TO RESPONSIBLE MOTHERHOOD.
6. TODAY AS WE CELEBRATE MOTHERS DAY. OUR MOTHERS ONCE MORE DECLARE THEIR ETERNAL LOVE FOR US. I WANTED YOU BEFORE YOU WERE BORN
I LOVED YOU WHEN YOU WERE BORN.
WHEN I SAW YOUR FACE , WHEN I HEARD YOUR VOICE,
I KNEW I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.
BEFORE YOU WERE ONE HOUR OLD
I KNEW I WOULD DIE FOR YOU, I WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU, I WILL BE BESIDE YOU. TO THIS DAY I WILL,
BECAUSE I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AND WITH ALL MY LIFE. I LIVE BECAUSE OF YOU. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU.
7. THANK YOU MOMMY. WE LOVE YOU TOO. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
