Started out cutting 40 boards… ended up wrestling a lightning-struck, half-rotten log. Still got the job done, but not without a fight.
What started out as a simple order for 40 fresh-cut 2x4s turned into one of those sawmill days. The first log cut like butter, the second one rolled through just fine… and then came log number three.
This one had been struck by lightning sometime in its life, and about a quarter of it was nothing but rot. If that wasn’t enough, I went and cut it too short, which meant more head-scratching, more wasted wood, and a whole lot more work than I’d planned.
In the end, I still got every board I needed for the order — but that lightning-struck log sure didn’t make it easy. Grab a cup of coffee and watch the mess unfold.
