U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody, Sheriff John Mina, Orlando Fire Chief Charlie Salazar and local first responders gathered today at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to call for the passage of the Graham Hoffman Act, federal legislation to close gaps in state laws and allow prosecution at the federal level for assaults on first responders.
Named in honor of Graham Hoffman, a Kansas City paramedic killed in the line of duty earlier this year, the bill aims to ensure that those who attack first responders face the full force of federal law.
Our first responders put their lives on the line every day. They deserve every possible protection when answering the call to help others.
