Adventures on the Isle of Purbeck

With an eye opening beautiful coastline, charming historic towns and some of England’s most scenic countryside and views, Dorset is ready for happy memories at every turn, especially on the isle of Purbeck!
The remarkable geology there has a story to tell, seen through its many iconic
landmarks.

Whether by boat, train or by foot, Dorset is the perfect playground for outdoor adventure, which all ages can enjoy and we’ve loved exploring with Charlotte over these last few years.

Poole harbour is Europe’s largest natural harbour and situated in the middle is National trust owned, Brownsea Island. With woodland walks and nature thriving to spot, it’s a peaceful paradise.
And that’s not the only place to enjoy nature from.
RSPB Arne is situated on the western side of the harbour and is a breathtaking nature reserve, with so much wildlife to see. We can also recommend the lovely shipstal beach, perfect for a dip and sandcastles!

Inland at Corfe Castle, a picturesque journey awaits, to take you to the seaside on the Swanage Railway.
The 12 mile round trip takes you through glorious Purbeck countryside to the seaside and is a memorable adventure for all to enjoy.

Not far from Corfe is an eye opening hidden gem, the Blue Pool.
Set in the 300 acre Furzebrook estate, the beauty of nature is truly on show. With the crystal clear waters and surrounding beautiful trees making for the perfect serene setting.
A wooden adventure play, fairy and gnome trail awaits and a brilliant place for picnics.

Dorset is also world famous for its distinctive geology, two spectacular sites can be found on the Jurassic Coastline.
Starting at the world heritage site, Lulworth Cove, an incredible landform, created approximately 10,000 years ago.
Just along the coastline from Lulworth is Durdle Door, where 10,000 years ago, the power of the sea forced through the Portland limestone, leaving the remarkable sight.
