Franz Schubert (1797-1828) wrote his Overture (D major), in the Italian Style around 181, at the same time he wrote its companion Overture in C major. These pieces are now catalogued as D. 590 and 591 respectively in the Otto Erich Deutsch catalogue. The first Overture of the pair, in D major (published in 1886) was a success, and Schubert employed fragments from it in posterior pieces.
