In front of Shorakkopoch Rock in Inwood Park, the site of the Indian village where (according to legend and the plaque on the rock), Peter Minuit “bought” Manhattan, a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape tribal nation named Opalanietet (English name: Ryan Victor Pierce) performs a ritual greeting, celebrating the 12,000 birthday of Lënapehòkink (the land of the Lenape) and launching the first-ever Down to Earth Festival, which is free.
