Ritual and magic has been used by Ceremonial Magicians since the dawn of human civilisation. With traditions fading after the First and Second World Wars, these occult practises seemed to have disappeared, when actually they just went further into the shadows of society. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn was a secret society that dissolved in 1903. This gave rise to numerous offshoots and magical orders, many of which carried on its teachings, with one of the main members being Aleister Crowley.
