German Tenses | The German Present Tense Explained | A1 Beginner

In this video I am going to show you first all existing German tenses and then the rest of the video focuses on the most common, most important German tense which is: The German present tense.

The German language has in total 6 tenses, but knowing just two of them you can speak, write and understand most of the conversations and texts up to quiet high level. You could actually survive by just knowing the German present tense and the present perfect tense. Some important exceptions will be explained in the following video about present perfect.

The first tense you learn is the present tense or in German we call it: das Präsens. It's not only the most used but also most diverse as you can use it for example also for the future tense. More about this in my bonus tips in this video.

When it comes to the conjugation of German tenses, there are two for the present tense:
Regular Verbs & Irregular Verbs
Regular verbs are pretty straight forward and not difficult to conjugate once you memorized the specific endings to each pronoun / subject.
Irregular verbs I suggest you learn / memorize the most important ones (such as to have, to be and modal verbs) and for the rest always keep in mind: almost only irregular in the 2nd and 3rd person singular. More about conjugation of regular and irregular verbs you can also find in this video.
