Ever read someone’s story and feel like a piece is missing? A new detail about Suzanne Longstreet changed everything for me.
Bestselling author of The Millionaire Codes, Suzanne Longstreet, and I had a boundary conflict before we began today’s interview. My idea was to have Suzanne demonstrate a Millionaire Code from her book with a live person. I gave her some options—either me or my team member, both of whom I knew could work with her safely. She said “no,” because there are things she likes to have in place before working with someone. I didn’t connect it to what had happened between us, but Suzanne chose to speak about boundaries—a subject covered in her book and one we had just experienced in real time.
But first, I really wanted to understand how what she wrote about her childhood—and what ‘happened’ to her later—could make sense.
Suzanne’s book, The Millionaire Codes, co-authored with Sara Connell, offers immediate Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) tools to lift unconscious or conscious blocks that hold us back.
If you know me, you know how much I love connecting past experiences to later choices. For me, finding that missing puzzle piece often brings a surge of compassion. When I first read Suzanne and Sara’s book, I couldn’t quite grasp how Suzanne went from the childhood described up until age eight to a marriage where she was physically and emotionally battered.
This interview changed that.
If you want to see what it looks like to put puzzle pieces together—to create huge insight and feel the freedom that comes from compassion—listen in.
In the spirit of discovery, I realized that we had already experienced a real-life boundary conflict of our own prior to the interview. We discuss how two strong people work out divergent plans.
While reading Suzanne’s book, certain words popped out. I wasn’t sure if she meant what I was thinking of: “Do you enjoy having drama in your life? If you do, then the best way to keep the drama going is to not set boundaries.”
In our time together, Suzanne explains how being conflict-avoidant can keep people from speaking up about their positions. We are on the same page about how silence can fuel disconnection and drama by stuffing unspoken issues into a “gunny sack.” Watch out when the gunny sack gets full.
I felt touched by Suzanne’s trust in me and this community. She shared deeply personal details—not in the book—that help us understand how she was drawn to an abusive relationship. It also became clear to me why life brought NLP to her as a release from childhood and ancestral dynamics. Suzanne is now a demonstration of a powerful woman—both a successful entrepreneur and an NLP Master Trainer.
