Rwanda Denies Ties to M23, Blames Congo | Exclusive Interview with FM Olivier Nduhungirehe | Clash Report
In this exclusive interview, Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe responds to accusations linking Rwanda to the M23 rebel group in the DRC. He insists M23 is a Congolese movement defending Congolese citizens of Rwandan heritage, and stresses Rwanda’s only role is protecting its borders.
“Rwanda did not take any cities — we’re only defending our borders.”
The minister also condemns Congo’s history of sheltering genocidal militias and warns against foreign pressure:
“It’s been 31 years since the genocide. We’ve been rebuilding, while Congo protects those who destroyed us.”

“No Western country can threaten our security or impose conditions. Rwanda will never relive 1994.”
Nduhungirehe also praises Türkiye’s consistent support and encourages equitable investment in Africa:
“We welcome investment and value strong, equal partnerships.”
