This film opens on the basement of a family owned show store in 1952 New York. Quickly establishing Marty Mauser Supreme as our protagonist with dreams of becoming the world's best ping pong player. Which to his credit is fully capable of doing at the beginning of this film. This is a dream no one in his life respects or believes in, but it's one this semi fictional charismatic lunatic is relentlessly determined to see come true. And at least to me, you couldn't help but cheer him on with every bad decision he made.
If you bought a ticket for this movie because you saw one of Timmy Chammy's white boy winter stunts then the tone of this movie probably startled you.
