Hello everybody! It’s Anna and this is the English Fluency Journey, where I give tips and advice for English learners!

To have In mind means just to think of something or someone, to have some thoughts, some ideas, that not bothering you, to know what you want and to remember something.
Examples: Do you have any collages in mind?
I have that gorgeous red dress in mind for tonight.
Pizza sounds ok, but I had Italian food in mind.
Does everybody have the procedure firmly in mind?
To have On mind means to think and worry about someone or something a lot, to be obsessed with something . And perhaps you need to talk to someone - a friend or specialist for example about it, you know to get it off your chest.
So if someone looks concerned or anxious, you ask them
What’s on your mind?
If you are worried about something you can say
I have a lot on mind right now.
‘You are always on my mind’ means that you always think of this person maybe even too much or to the point of worrying.
Whereas ‘You are always in my mind’ means that you always remember this person.
And when you ask a question “What’s on your mind?’ a person you’re asking it will consider it as a suggestion to share their feelings. A question ‘what’s in your mind?’ on the other hand might sound a bit weird, cause it’s not a set phrase and people would think what do you mean, cause in other words it sounds like “what was in your mind when you did that stupid thing?’
So, you can totally ask “ What’s on your mind?” , or “What do you have in mind?, like “Do you have any suggestions?”
And In the US though a lot of people would say in my head instead of in my mind.
Well it was a teeny-tiny piece of information to make this difference clear and not to overwhelm you much. Want to know more or curious of some expressions and idioms, please feel free to ask. Speak your mind.
