Welcome to Texas Jane Chronicles, 13 Miles from the Texas State Capitol building. Many of Texas's state parks have shaped history, and McKinney is no exception.
The falls were shaped millions of years ago when an ancient volcano erupted. Some of the main attractions, the Upper and Lower Falls are mesmerizing. Water from the Onion Creek created moonlike craters and natural pools that help define the park.
Ruins of the Old Homestead, Gristmill, and Breeder's Cabin are reminders of Thomas F McKinney, the developer and namesake of the lands that make-up McKinney State Park today.
